Low Maintenance Styles
Many busy women choose low-maintenance styles because they spend less time styling them daily. Although it might take time getting them installed, they are usually less stress afterwards.
Low maintenance styles like braids, twists, bantu knots, crochet braids, locs, and cornrows are easy to maintain, lightweight, and versatile. They usually last longer, between 4 and 8 weeks. The downside to these styles is higher installation cost and occasional scalp care like moisturizing.

Some women just show up at the salon every weekend to get cornrows because they rock wigs every other day. It is a convenience package. One day it’s a bob. The next day it’s 30 inches of drama. The only downside is styling the wig before wear, which can be avoided if you pre-style it over the weekend.
Maybe the real question isn’t whether pixie cuts are better than low-maintenance hairstyles.
Pixie cuts save you from sitting for six hours while someone parts your hair into microscopic squares that leave your scalp sore. But they often demand regular salon visits. You might not be able to maintain the trims, styling products, and consistent upkeep.
Some women feel liberated after cutting their hair into a pixie. Others discover that maintaining a pixie requires more effort than they expected. Others wear wigs because they love options. Some dedicate years to locs because they don’t want to stress over hairstyles too often.
When it’s time to head to work on a Monday morning, which hairstyle works best for you? Do you prefer weekly maintenance, or would you rather dedicate long hours to a big hair day every few weeks? Is your biggest concern time, money, convenience, versatility, or comfort?
Truthfully, your answer might be different from mine and every other woman’s out there because our experiences and relationships with our hair are different.
