Fierce Sharon On Her Journey To Authentic Influence.

A decade ago, Fierce Sharon was an aspiring lawyer known for winning debates and prizes—recognized for her articulation and ambition. Today, she’s a fast-rising media icon with a steady career—a rarity for women in the entertainment industry.

In a time when we’re constantly engulfed by the impacts of social media—whether negative or positive—Sharon Omorogbe, widely known as “Fierce Sharon,” stands as a blueprint of authenticity. Talking with Sharon and taking an inside look into her individuality helped me understand how she developed such a deep passion for everything she does and how she ensures consistency in using her platform for good.

Sharon understands it’s easier to sell trends, even if they are morally wrong or destructive. “Everyone is looking for content that’ll make them laugh, not learn; content to feed their eyes, not nourish their minds,” she says.

We also discussed how she manages to hold on to her essence despite the pressure and competition to follow the crowd. I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did.

What are your biggest challenges so far as a media personality?

My biggest challenge is striving daily in an industry that bypasses originality and authenticity. Every day, I remind myself to stay true to my purpose by being deliberate and consistent with the content I put out, even though it’s not popular in the industry.

I’ve accepted that this is the status quo. However, I will not back down. I will remain true to myself.

Secondly, my biggest challenge is the limited opportunities to showcase myself on a large scale. Most brands only work with the “big shots.” Even if you know someone who calls the shots in the industry and has the capacity to help, they will bypass you for the top names.
I understand this, but by the help of God, I will work my way to the top, and grace will distinguish me—just like Daniel.

With everything happening in the media, how do you align your goals with the trends?

The entertainment industry is a rollercoaster. It’s so easy to get carried away and feel inadequate. There’s a kind of content that sells fast in this industry, and if you’re not selling that, chances are you’ll remain at the back of the room.

Vain content thrives better than purposeful, meaningful content on the internet. I consider myself a Christian creative, which means I have to work twice as hard to achieve results. What sets me apart by the grace of God is my consistency with the content I create. I stay true to my essence, my calling, and my purpose. Anything outside that would be a betrayal of who I am.

What rules do you live by that help you balance being a public figure and staying authentic?

Truthfully, the person you see on Instagram is the same person I am in real life.

I’ve always known I’d be famous, respectable, and renowned, so I’ve inscribed certain rules in my heart to ensure I don’t get caught up in the glitz and glamour that fades quickly.

I remember my adolescent self. I used to cringe at controversies and scandals associated with celebrities. I promised myself that I would never be in the news for the wrong reasons. This resolution helps me maintain privacy and keep my behavior in check.

Additionally, I’ve resolved not to engage in activities that would rob me of my peace and authenticity. Nothing in this industry is worth losing myself over.

Most importantly, I make a daily resolution to take God with me everywhere I go. God is truly my compass. Everyone who knows me from way back knows I’m a “church girl” who “carries God on her head.”
God blessed me with this talent, and I submit my will to Him daily. I will not let the world or the industry shape me. God is the ultimate potter, and as clay in His hands, I want to be shaped and defined by Him alone.

Recently, you started a trend on fruit fasting that has gained worldwide traction. What motivated you to begin this journey? How do you feel seeing others take up this initiative?

Honestly, I started fasting just to prove to myself that I could go seven days without eating—there was no spiritual undertone at first. This challenge came right after my 20 YouTube videos challenge in February, so this was me ticking another box on my list.

In March 2022, at midnight, I stumbled on a YouTube video where a lady shared her 30-day water fast journey. I thought to myself, “I can do this.” The next day, I started a seven-day water fast, followed by a seven-day fruit fast. After that, I embarked on a 21-day fruit fast from April to May.

On social media, I share content based on my personal experiences. So, I decided to share my 21-day fruit fast journey on Instagram. I received numerous messages from amazing people who expressed their intention to join. Some even completed their fast and later shared their progress with me.

It’s such a blissful experience. It makes me feel fulfilled and grateful to God. My goal is to inspire others, and seeing people take control of their health because of my journey is an honor.

On your love for corn, what’s one thing you wish people knew about it?

I’m a tough lover of corn—tough because I don’t let anyone come near my corn!

Most people don’t know that corn is actually a fruit. I recently discovered that myself. I love corn so much. The highest number of corn I’ve eaten in one sitting is six, and I’m determined to break that record.

You’re always a frontliner in health activism, especially regarding eating habits and lifestyle choices. Why do you think the average person struggles to prioritize healthy living?

There are many challenges people face when it comes to healthy living. While some are generic, others are peculiar.

The biggest challenges are indiscipline and ignorance.
If you can condition your mind and body to adopt a healthy lifestyle, you’d be amazed at the benefits. But many people adopt the mindset of “chop life before life chops you.”

For example, most people would rather eat junk than research the nutrients they need or what foods to avoid. If only they cared more about their health beyond physical appearance, there’d be a paradigm shift.

What has been the most challenging part of growing up in Nigeria, considering everything happening in the country?

A thousand thoughts came rushing into my head as I read this question.

Growing up here has been challenging in countless ways. Every time I reflect on it, another hurdle pops up in my mind that feels like it deserves the title of “the most difficult challenge.”

What’s most challenging is the daily dilapidation of the state of things in our country. Just when you think you’ve seen the worst, something even more catastrophic shows up.
It’s a vicious cycle. You constantly build walls around your mind and heart to protect yourself. It’s like wearing heavy armor everywhere you go—you can’t afford to take it off because the bullets of life keep coming.

Are there any final notes you’d like to end on?

Whatever you think, you believe. What you believe, you become.
